tab is time tracking and invoicing for freelancers, made by Brady UX in Maryland, USA. This page explains what we collect, why, who helps us run tab, and how to have your data deleted. The short version: we collect what tab needs to work, we don’t sell it, and we don’t show you ads.
If you use tab
- Your account: your email address (to sign you in), and the name, business details, currency and timezone you enter.
- Your work: the clients, projects, time entries, notes, links, invoices and work receipts you create. Client details can include names, email addresses, postal addresses and tax IDs you add.
- Payments: if you connect Stripe, we keep a record of each payment (amount, date, bank or card, tab’s fee, refunds). Card and bank numbers go to Stripe, never to us.
- Emails we send for you: a copy of each invoice or receipt email and who it went to, so you can see it was sent.
- Your logo: stored at a public web address so it can appear on invoices and the pages your clients open.
- On your device: your sign-in session, a running timer and a few preferences are kept in your browser’s storage so tab works offline and remembers where you were.
If a freelancer sends you an invoice or receipt
We process your name and email address on the freelancer’s behalf to deliver it. If you approve a receipt or ask a question, we store your answer, and the email address if you give one, and tell the freelancer. If you pay online, Stripe processes the payment into the freelancer’s own Stripe account and sets cookies on the payment page to prevent fraud. To have your details removed, ask the freelancer, or write to us.
If you join the waitlist
We keep your email address, and optionally what kind of work you do and how you found us, to email you about tab. The waitlist is stored with Netlify.
Who helps us run tab
- Supabase hosts the database and sign-in (United States).
- Netlify hosts the website and app, and the waitlist.
- Resend delivers the emails tab sends.
- Stripe processes online payments. See Stripe’s privacy policy.
They process data only to provide their service to us. We never sell your data or share it for advertising. If we add product analytics, we’ll say so here before we turn it on.
Keeping and deleting data
We keep your data while your account is open. You can delete your account and everything in it yourself, any time, in Settings → Your data → Delete my account; it happens straight away. Please export anything you want to keep first (Money → Export). You can also write to hello@tabwork.app and we’ll delete it within 30 days. Backups roll over within a few weeks. Stripe keeps its own payment records under its own rules.
Security
Everything travels over HTTPS. Each account can only see its own data, enforced in the database itself, and the links your clients open are long random codes that show only that one invoice or receipt.
Children
tab is for people 18 and over.
Changes
If we change this page in a way that matters, we’ll update the date above and email account holders before the change takes effect.
