Track time by asking your AI

Connect tab to Claude, ChatGPT or any assistant that supports MCP, then say “start my timer for Northwind” or “log 2 hours to Loop yesterday”. The time lands on the right client’s tab.

Connect it

Claude

  1. Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Name it tab and paste https://app.tabwork.app/mcp.
  3. Click Connect, sign in to tab, and approve on tab’s page.

ChatGPT

  1. Turn on developer mode for connectors (Settings → Apps & Connectors → Advanced), then create a connector.
  2. Paste https://app.tabwork.app/mcp as the server URL, with OAuth as the authentication.
  3. Sign in to tab and approve.

Other assistants

Any assistant or tool that supports remote MCP servers with OAuth sign-in can connect to the same address.

Menu names change as these apps update; look for “connectors”, “MCP” or “custom tools”.

What it can and can’t do

  • Can: see your clients, projects, hours, tabs and invoices; start and stop your timer; log time you forgot.
  • Can’t: send invoices, email your clients, take or move money, or delete anything. Do those in the app.
  • It acts as you, inside your own account only. You approve each assistant once, and you can disconnect any of them in tab under Settings → AI assistants.

Questions

Is the tab connector free?

Yes. It’s part of tab, which is free to start.

Can the assistant send invoices or charge my clients?

No. Through tab’s connector it can see your data, run the timer and log time. Sending invoices, emailing clients and anything involving money stay in the app.

How do I disconnect an assistant?

In tab, open Settings → AI assistants and click Disconnect. Its access stops right away.
